This article examines the structure of the higher education market in the Republic of Tajikistan and assesses its level of concentration using the Herfindahl–Hirschman Index (HHI). The findings indicate that the market, in a regional context, demonstrates a high degree of concentration, with higher education institutions—particularly those located in the capital—holding dominant positions. This situation limits the competitiveness of the educational services market, constrains development opportunities for regional universities, and reduces the effectiveness of market and strategic management. Additionally, the article presents an analysis of the dynamics of the Hirsch index among university faculty members for the period 2015–2023. The upward trends in these indicators reflect improvements in scientific performance, advancements in research management, strengthened human capacity, and an increase in academic competitiveness.
