This article discusses ecological measures as a mechanism for protecting glaciers in Tajikistan and the world under climate change. Tajikistan's glaciers are an important source of fresh water in the region and play a key role in the ecological balance and sustainable development of Central Asia. Under the influence of climate warming, rapid glacier retreat is observed, which threatens water security, energy, agriculture, and ecosystems. The aim of this study is to analyze climate variables (temperature and precipitation) and study scientifically based measures to reduce their decline. The results of the study show significant changes in precipitation and temperature. The implementation of global and regional measures, including reflective coatings, artificial snow accumulation, the formation of ice reservoirs and water discharge on the surface of glaciers, can reduce glacier decline and also enhance water security in the region.
Keywords: glaciers, climate change, ecological measures, water security, Tajikistan, remote sensing.
