Internal combustion engines are widely used in the transportation sector and other areas to improve efficiency and productivity. Even with the active development of electric vehicles, it is impossible to instantly replace all internal combustion engine vehicles with electric vehicles. Thus, it can be stated that internal combustion engines will continue to be used in automobiles and other sectors of the national economy for a long time. Correct and rational design of internal combustion engine parts ensures their reliable and long-lasting operation. In internal combustion engines, journal bearings are one of the key elements that ensure smooth and reliable rotation of the crankshaft and connecting rods. In order to increase the load-bearing capacity and reduce friction losses in tribounits, including in journal bearings, various design, technological and operational methods are used. In the context of design methods, one of the ways to reduce friction losses and increase the load-bearing capacity of tribounits, including plain bearings, is texturing the rubbing surfaces. This paper investigates the influence of controllable microgeometry parameters, namely their depth, on the hydrodynamic characteristics of radial journal bearings.
Keywords: internal combustion engine, journal bearings, tribological characteristics, microgeometry, tribounit, friction loss, reliability, durability.
