This article scientifically analyzes new approaches to improving the water quality monitoring program. To enhance the effectiveness of the program’s implementation, a scheme for an automated information control system is proposed. Based on the analysis of laboratory data, it was determined that the quality of drinking water within the water supply system of Dushanbe City meets the established drinking water quality standards, regardless of climatic and anthropogenic factors. It is also proposed that, in addition to the list of minimum mandatory indicators used during water treatment especially when applying purification technologies before supplying drinking water to consumers the priority indicators of the water source quality and those within the distribution network should be analyzed and monitored, taking into account the potential for secondary contamination.
Keywords: drinking water quality monitoring program, water quality indicators, surface and groundwater, water pollution, compliance with drinking water quality standards.
