The article presents the results of experimental measurements of PM2.5 concentration based on the application of an SPS30-type optical sensor. A relationship between PM2.5 concentr ation and meteorological conditions was identified. The consistently low concentrations of PM2.5 in the mountain-valley area indicate a low anthropogenic load and the presence of effective mechanisms of natural atmospheric self-purification, which are determined by the specific features of air circulation in the studied territory. The analysis of PM2.5 concentration before and after a dust intrusion showed that the external transport of dust masses acts as the dominant factor in the formation of air quality, resulting in a sharp disruption of the usual atmospheric regime and an extreme increase in pollution levels.
Keywords: air quality, maximum permissible concentrations, PM2.5, optical sensor, dust intrusion.
